Capabilities
Daniela Florea has significant experience of running a mapping and GIS company, starting from a green-field. Her areas of major focus have been:

Organisation building
As a co-founder of Geo Strategies, she was responsible for establishing and developing company procedures, including technology transfer, engineering, financial, commercial and behavioral aspects.

She set up, what was then, the largest computer system in Central & Eastern Europe (World bank, 1994) based on a cluster of over 100 workstations dedicated to satellite image processing, mapping and GIS. She also trained the staff in mapping, GIS, management, supervision, communications and negotiations.

She established key partnerships for the company and was responsible for a number of EU PHARE and World Bank projects.

Related activities
Lectured in Project Management, GIS and Decision Making at the Black Sea University Summer School, 1995 / 96 / 97.

Voted “Toughest Entrepreneur in Europe” by Tornado Insider, 2000.

Advisor and speaker at a number of DTI, entrepreneurship, investment and management meetings / seminars.

Supervised university research and joint projects with academia.

Background and Experience
2001 - Pres. Geo Strategies Ltd, Cambridge, UK.
Appointed Group CEO with full responsibility for international operations involving mapping, GIS, licencing, and IPR management. Responsible for all strategic accounts.
1993 -2001 Geo Strategies SA, Sibiu, Romania.
Co-founded Geo Strategies SA. This is an English / Romanian Joint Venture (in conjunction with Geo Strategies Ltd). This company provides mapping, survey, image processing and GIS services - mainly within Europe. Established the company as The Gateway to C&E Europe.

1991 - 1993 Gheorghe Lazar High School, Sibiu, Romania.
Recruited to teach a special sixth form course in geography - but taught in the English language. This was the first such initiative in Romania and, as a result, was included in the national curriculum together with the teacher manual which she developed while delivering the course.
1990-1993 Pedagogical (Teacher Training) College, Sibiu, Romania.
Teacher of Methodology of Teaching.
Working with A-Level students, she introduced a more flexible approach to the teaching of geography based on various themes from World Studies.
1985-1990 Avrig Village College, Avrig, Romania.
Geography and English teacher to pupils from 11 to 17. She also coordinated a wide-based psychological study involving children. She regularly trained groups of pupils to take part in local and national competitions.
