Cambridge Strategic Management

 :: FAQs
Who owns CSM?
Bill Metcalf is the founder and sole share holder.
Is it a one-man-band?
No! Although Bill is the overall manager, we draw in specialised consultants according to the work-load and the nature of the project.

For example, we have an associate who is TICKET approved and therefore ideal for projects associated with quality systems.  We have an experienced software engineer who used to manage a large group of software developers.  We also have people with experience of the metal working and fabrication industry. We have another associate who is well versed in paperwork and management control systems.

What sort of projects can you manage?
We specialise in start ups, new implementations, software, and R&D projects in a variety of (mainly science-based) industries.
Are you prepared to take on contracts with penalty clauses?
We love penalty clause contracts as this provides an opportunity to demonstrate what really can be achieved!  However, the penalties have to be fair and, in turn, such contracts require a commitment from the host organisation to react to reasonable demands.
Can you supply long-term support?
Yes-ish! Most of the projects with which we have been involved fall within a twelve month time frame.  We can service longer projects, but our experience is that our involvement can usually decrease with time: we then fall back to either part-time involvement, or even to a mentoring process whereby we develop local staff in the skills of project management.
Do you supply contract staff e.g. software engineers?
No! We are not a "body shop" and would always refer such enquiries to an employment agency.  This also applies to accountancy staff.
