Due to the ever increasing pace of change driven by market demands and enabled by new technology, we find that our core business now centres on Project Management training.
The Project Management courses and workshops are delivered by skilled practitioners who have real life experience of managing projects in a diverse range of industries.
We would point out, however, that the term "Project Management" covers a wide range of activities ranging from blue skies research, to logistical planning of e.g. a new factory.
Whilst the tools and techniques (PERT charts, Gantt charts, Critical Path Analysis, Milestones, etc) are common for all types of Project Management, they tend to be applied differently in various fields of activity.
Our main strength relates to those situations where there is less certainty of outcome, as opposed to the logistical type scenarios.
For this reason, we tend to concentrate on "Project Management for R&D" where R&D embraces all types of innovative projects.
As will be evident from the various agenda which follow
(see also Downloads), the term "Course" only legitimately applies to the
One Day Course which is generic in nature - providing an introduction to Project Management.
The 2-Day and 2½-Day courses are more properly styled "Workshops" as they extend to cover topics of immediate interest to the client organisation.
There is the additional benefit that we plan client projects as an integral part of the training.
We also deliver a two day course on Project Management for R&D
via the University of Cranfield.
These are "open courses" and suitable for organisations that wish to train just a few people in Project Management.
Finally, we believe that the management of people in the project environment has certain characteristics which differ from the more general (or functional) type of management.
So we always include a session on people management based on the Belbin Team Role Inventory.
